FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen at my first appointment?

You will have a chance to meet with a therapist and talk about the issues that brought you to the session. It is your chance to ask any questions and see whether therapy works for you. This service is completely confidential and hopefully you will start getting new ideas and insights about your life.

How might a counsellor or psychotherapist help me?

Any type of therapy is mainly based on the relationship developed between client and therapist. You will have a chance to express your concerns and issues and start getting non-judgmental support from your therapist.  Development of a great self-awareness to help you deal better with your life is one of the main goals.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, it will be completely confidential except when the therapist notice any safeguarding issues which will be cleared explained during your first session.

What if I have a comment, compliment or complaint about the service I receive?

I encourage you to send me any comments or questions you may have by email on mcortez@mindmentor.me

Whenever you have a complaint about therapy, I would also encourage you to try to discuss this first with the therapist to see whether a satisfactory resolution can be achieved. If you are still not happy about it, you can write a complaint to UKCP or BACP.

Can I stop at any time?

You may finish your sessions whenever you feel necessary and without any explanation. Or you may wish to take a therapy break and resume sessions, when ready, at a later date.

How can I arrange therapy for a family member or a friend?

Contact the service yourself. However, if anyone decides to make an enquiry on your behalf, the first session will only be booked after you have also expressed your personal willingness to start therapy. It is also possible to arrange Family Therapy sessions as long as you give your express permission.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

You can cancel any appointment booked as long as you give 24 hours’ notice. Any appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged at the usual session rate.
